Question

What is the available technology in the German and Russian department's conference room in Decio 107 and it's basic use?

Context

Conference room technology, such as Crestron control panel, presentation cabling, and Hudly camera.

Answer

Decio 107 Conference Room

Notes:

  • Room is equipped with a scheduling panel outside the door connected to Google Calendar which displays when the room is available or has meetings, and displays green when available and red when in use.
  • The Crestron panel on the table is motion activated, which means it will become active when someone occupies the room.  The display on the wall, the Crestron pane, and the lights will all turn off on their own after a period of time after the room is vacated
  • Air Media can be used without connecting the cables

    • CLICK HERE for information on how to connect to Air Media with Mac

This room is equipped with the following:

Crestron Panel on a swivel mount at the end of the conference room table.  Touch it to turn on the display mounted on the wall.

Crestron panel

  • This is the home screen, tap the triangle at the bottom to see the available apps.

Crestron Panel home screen

  • You are presented with the following.
    • Home: takes you back to the original screen.
    • Present: allows you to plug in the HDMI cable to present on the display.  Or it can give you the Air Media details, which is also available on the display by default.
    • Call: allows you to make a phone call like a conference phone, to connect a bluetooth device like a cell phone, or USB cable to a computer to use the audio system from a computer.
    • Collaborate: gives basic instructions on how to use the Crestron system.

Crestron Display

  • Plug in the HDMI cable and you can present on the display through the cable.  This will offer better performance than Air Media and also provides sound from your computer which will be played over the display audio, and not the Crestron conference system.
  • Plug in both the HDMI cable and USB cable to make use of the display and the Crestron audio.  Select the "Echo cancelling microphone (Crestron Mercury)" audio device and "Hudly IQ" video device from Zoom to make use of the full conferencing capabilities available.  Doing this will use the Crestron unit on the table for speaker and microphone, and the camera under the display mounted to the wall, rather than the default devices on your laptop.
