As of February 2021, RemoteApps is no longer used for the OnBase Unity Client on Mac. Users should use Virtual Desktop instead.

When to Use Virtual Desktop

Virtual Desktop access for the OnBase Unity Client is designed for Mac users.

PC users can install the OnBase Unity Client directly to their machine. If a PC user is unable to install the OnBase Unity Client, they should reach out to their local IT consultant or departmental IT contact to acquire access.

Access OnBase via Virtual Desktop

For Mac users, the easiest way to use the Onbase Unity client is through Virtual Desktop. To access Virtual Desktop, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the virtual desktop site: https://adminapps-stack-standard-large-unity.vdi.nd.edu.
  2. If prompted, login via Okta with your NetID and password.
  3. A countdown will display until the machine is ready to use. Expect this process to take about two minutes (see the Common Issues section below if it is taking longer).
  4. Login to the machine using your ND password.
  5. When the virtual desktop loads, a help article will launch about how to access files if you need to upload something to OnBase (see the Common Issues section below).
  6. We recommend working with the virtual desktop in fullscreen mode. Click the Fullscreen icon in the top toolbar.

  7. There is a Unity Client shortcut on the desktop to launch OnBase.
  8. When you are finished working in OnBase, click the Profile icon in the top toolbar and select Logout.

Note: Since the University pays per usage time for this service, the virtual desktop will automatically log you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. Once logged out, there is a 15 minute grace period where you can log back in without having to create a new session.

Adding a VDI Bookmark in the Chrome Browser

  1. On your computer, open Chrome
  2. At the top right, Click More (3 dots)
  3. Click Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager
  4. Click the Bookmarks More (3 dots) tool
  5. Select Add new bookmark
  6. Provide a Name to your bookmark
  7. Then Save

You should now see the new bookmark you created on your Bookmarks Bar.

Please note:

If you don’t see the Bookmarks Bar on your Chrome browser. Make sure that Show Bookmarks Bar is checked under the Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager in Chrome.
