What is an Architecture Virtual Computer lab?
Architecture Virtual Computer Lab is a Windows computer desktop that will display on your screen and give you access to applications that you would typically use in Digital Design Studio in Walsh Family Hall of Architecture for the School of Architecture. This desktop is for your individual use and is not shared with other students. However, it is only available when you are actively using it (i.e., you cannot always logout and return to the same computer at a later time). How do I use the Architecture Virtual Computer Lab?
1. Go to inside.nd.edu and search for "Architecture Virtual Computer Lab".
2. Click the icon for School of Architecture.
3. A countdown will display until the machine is ready for us, it could take 2 minutes to 15 minutes.
4. You may get another login screen with your Notre Dame email address, the password is the same as your NetID.
5. A browser window will appear with the title Amazon AppStream 2.0. This is your virtual Windows desktop. Fullscreen mode is available by clicking the icon pictured below.
6. When you are done using the Architecture Virtual Computer Lab, end your session by clicking End Session in the Profiles menu.
Please be mindful of other users and end your session when you are no longer actively working in the software.
How to connect your Google Drive?
Important: Make sure you save your files on Google Drive. Files saved anywhere else on the AppStream virtual instances space will be deleted when you disconnect.
To connect your Google Drive to AppStream, you will need to allow it access only once, and the connection will persist. To connect Google Drive, click on the My Files icon in the upper left of the window.
Then you can click Add Storage in the upper right and select Google Drive. Once you have authorized Google Drive access, your file open and save dialogs should allow you to open and save to Google Drive.
How to save to Google Drive?
For most software you will select ‘This PC” to access your Google Drive.
