Question: How do I log into my Notre Dame account using Okta Verify?

Answer: 

  1. Visit a page that uses the Okta login, such as okta.nd.edu
  2. Enter your username and click Next
  3. Enter your password and click Verify
    4. Select the security method you wish to use from the list of available options that appears on your screen


    Note that Okta Verify has two methods that can be used:

    1. Enter a Code: When your mobile device doesn't have service or doesn't have push notifications enabled, you can enter a code provided by the Okta Verify app. 
      Please note: The code provided by the Okta Verify app expires every 30 seconds. If you are attempting to sign into your Notre Dame account on your mobile phone, it can be very difficult to navigate between the app and sign-in screen. For these reasons, we recommend only using this option if you don't have Push enabled. 
      1.  After clicking Select on the login screen above, your login screen will look like this: 


      2. You will then open the Okta Verify app on your mobile device. It will display a 6 digit number under your Notre Dame email which will change every 30 seconds. The time before the code expires is tracked by a blue bar at the top of the screen. 

      3. Navigate back to the login screen in step one and enter the number that is currently being displayed in the Enter Code field. Click Verify.


    2. Get a push notification: If your mobile device has either a cell or wifi signal and has Push enabled, a push notification will be sent to the Okta Verify app. 
      1. When you click Select for the Get a push notification option, a push will be sent to the Okta Verify app on your mobile device immediately. The login screen will look like this: 
      2. Access the Okta Verify app on your mobile device to view the push notification, then approve the request. 
      3. If you have enabled biometrics for Okta Verify app on your mobile device, you will receive a secondary prompt on that device to enter a fingerprint or other scan. Respond to the prompt on your mobile device.
        4. Navigate back to the login screen: you will have been granted access to the application you were signing into.
