Overview

Zoom includes a polling feature for meetings. You can create:

During the meeting, you can launch a poll, collect responses, and view results. After the meeting, you can download a poll report. You can also make polls anonymous.

Enable polling and allow alternative hosts

Before you can use polls, make sure polling is enabled in the Zoom web portal.

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Open your settings page in the web portal: https://notredame.zoom.us/profile/setting
  3. Enable the polling setting for meetings.
  4. If you want an alternative host to create or edit polls, the setting must be enabled in the web portal.
  5. When you schedule the meeting, select the option that allows the alternative host to add or edit polls.

Note: By default, only the original meeting host can add or edit polls during a meeting.

Important: If the host or co-host role is transferred to another user during the meeting, that user can launch polls that were already created, but cannot add or edit polls unless they were set up as an alternative host and the required setting was enabled.

Create a poll before the meeting

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Meetings.
  3. Schedule a new meeting or open an existing meeting.
  4. Open the Polls/Quizzes area for the meeting.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Enter a title for the poll.
  7. Add each question.
  8. For each question, choose either Single Choice or Multiple Choice.
  9. If needed, turn on the anonymous option so participant names are not included with responses.
  10. Click Save.

Note: A single meeting can have up to 50 polls.

Note: Each poll can contain up to 10 questions.

Launch a poll during the meeting

  1. Start the Zoom meeting as the host.
  2. In the meeting controls, click Polls/Quizzes.
  3. Select the poll you want to use.
  4. Click Launch.
  5. Wait for participants to submit their answers.
  6. When you are ready to stop collecting responses, click End Poll.
  7. If you want participants to see the results, click Share Results.

Note: Only polls that were created in advance can be launched unless the original host or an approved alternative host has permission to add or edit them.

Download the poll report after the meeting

  1. After the meeting ends, sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Go to the reporting area for meetings and polls.
  3. Open the report for the meeting.
  4. Download the poll report.

Warning: If you relaunch the same poll during a meeting, the poll report shows only the last poll occurrence.

If you need results from two separate launches of the same questions, create a second poll with the same questions instead of relaunching the original poll.
