Issue

How to forward all incoming calls to another number or your voicemail.

Resolution

It is easy to forward your desk phone to a personal cell or home phone. By doing so, you are able to make and receive calls related to University business without the need to access your desk phone. However, when you forward your calls, all incoming calls are forwarded when they are received, regardless of the time or day. Also, any missed calls go to your personal phone’s voicemail, not your ND voicemail.

Follow the instructions below for the model of VoIP phone you have:

Model 7945

Activate Call Forward:

  1. Press the CFwdALL softkey
  2. Dial the extension or number you want calls to forward to
For an off-campus number, dial 8 followed by the external phone number (include area code if long distance) then the number
  3. To verify you have successfully forwarded your 631 number, call it from another phone and make sure the calls go to the desired location.

Deactivate Call Forward: Press the CFwdALL softkey

Model 8800 (has the little camera on top)

  1. Press Forward all
  2. To forward calls to another number, enter a phone number.
  3. To forward all calls to voicemail, press Messages voicemail button
  4. To cancel call forwarding, press Forward off
  5. To verify you have successfully forwarded your 631 number, call it from another phone and make sure the calls go to the desired location.

From a Web Page

  1. From the wired or WiFi campus network or from a VPN connection, go to phone.nd.edu
  2. Select Call Forwarding from the menu on the left.
  3. Click the box to Forward all calls to.
  4. In the box, type in the number 8 plus the number 1 plus the 10-digit phone number you want to forward calls to.
  5. Click Save. You will see a popup confirming that the forward was successful.
  6. To verify you have successfully forwarded your 631 number, call it from another phone and make sure the calls go to the desired location.

NOTE: Returned calls will appear as your personal number, not your 631 phone number.

When forwarding your phone, you can choose to keep your desk phone or have it removed. If you have your phone removed but then change your mind and would like to have a desk phone returned, one will be provided for you.
