Question

How do I install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client on Linux?

Answer

Follow these steps.

  1. Download the shell install script HERE
  2. Open a terminal and change directory to where the file downloaded to
  3. Type the command: sudo chmod a+x anyconnect-linux64-4.7.04056-core-vpn-webdeploy-k9.sh press return or enter on your keyboard
  4. Type the command: sudo ./anyconnect-linux64-4.7.04056-core-vpn-webdeploy-k9.sh press return or enter and you should see something similar to the following



  5. Once installed, locate the Cisco AnyConnect Client application in your Graphical User Interface and run it.
  6. Fill in the Connect to: box with vpnaccess.nd.edu/mfa or vpnaccess.nd.edu/go (for students) and click the Connect button
  7. Fill in your netID
    • If you are connecting to a specific VPN add ".[vpn] after your netID. For example netID.nosplit
  8. Enter your password and then your two factor authentication preference separated by a comma
    • "push" to get a push notification on the OKTA app
    • "phone1" to have OKTA call your first land line option for verification
    • "######" where you open the OKTA app on your phone, select your Notre Dame account and enter the code displayed there
  9. Click the Connect button
