Departments and organizations affiliated with the University can request the creation of an account to accommodate the following needs:

Email: An email address comes in the form of either a Departmental Shared Account (NetID) or a Collaborative Inbox. Note - for a Departmental Shared NetID request, we are moving to use a Delegated Inbox instead of a Shared NetID. For a Delegated Inbox, complete the Shared NetID form.  To request a Collaborative Inbox, please complete the Collaborative Inbox request form.  To request a Shared NetID please complete the Departmental Shared Account Request form.

A Collaborative Inbox is a Google Group and the thought behind it is - all email goes to the group members and to each member's email inbox, but you manage the inbox collaboratively in the Groups user interface. To learn more about working with a Collaborative Inbox, see this article.

A Delegated Inbox is for email only. The account is similar to if a Dean delegated her email inbox to her assistant. It is a separate inbox and email sent to it does not go to the email inbox for whoever is a delegate. And you can have more than one delegate per account; we recommend at least 2. To learn more about working with a Delegated Inbox, please see this article

Website: Websites are available via the Marketing and Communications office.  To learn more about website options, please visit websites.nd.edu.

Shared File Space: Shared file space is available via Google Shared drives. To learn more about Google Shared drives please review KB0014502.

Departmental Shared Account Request (NetID): NetID's are available for purposes other than website or shared file space.   To request a NetID please complete the Departmental Shared Account Request form.

Note: Existing shared NetID accounts are suitable for a variety of uses, and do not require the creation of additional accounts.

Guests and contractors of the university needing access to IT services can usually be best accommodated by a sponsor by submitting an Affiliate Access Request.

For security reasons, all account requests are subject to the OIT's review to ensure that they are unique, and that the business needs are not already met by another account or service.
