Install & Configure

  1. Download and install Cisco AnyConnect from the Apple App Store.


  2. Once it has been installed, open the Cisco AnyConnect app and select Allow if prompted as shown below.

  3. Select Connections
  4. Select Add VPN Connection and enter the desired Description and the Server Address as shown in the example below.
    1. You can make the description for the VPN anything you like, but the server must be for faculty and staff or for students.
    2. If you need to connect to a special VPN, add that information to the server address (e.g.

  5. Select Save
  6. Once you have saved the new connection, it will appear in your list of connections.
  7. You can add additional VPN configurations, if needed

Connect to the VPN

  1. Open the Cisco AnyConnect app if you haven't previously done so.
  2. Check the Connections field to determine which VPN configuration is active.
    1. If you have multiple VPNs configured, select Connections and select the one you want to use
    2. Tap Back
  3. Tap the slider that appears to the right of AnyConnect VPN to initiate the connection
  4. You will see an Okta login screen and be prompted for your Username and password
  5. You will then see the Two Step login screen. Select the desired notification option
    1. If Cisco AnyConnect and Okta Verify are on the same iOS device and you select "Send Me A Push", instead of tapping on the Okta prompt, long-press or pull down on the notification and then approve in the notification action.
    2. Tap Approve
    3. Alternately, you can choose any Okta authentication option besides the Okta Verify push notification.
  6. If your NetID and password are entered correctly, you will see the following message.

  7. Tap Accept to complete the connection process

Note: The Cisco AnyConnect app keeps you connected to the VPN while your device is locked. You must open the app and turn the AnyConnect VPN connection OFF before it will disconnect.
