Before You Begin

Important - To avoid disruption to your Zoom meeting, if you are host do not allow participants to share their screen unless absolutely necessary.

These instructions are strictly for sharing an iPad in OIT supported classrooms. If users login to zoom.us/share with a device, such as a laptop, after logging in to the lectern computer, Zoom will log you out of the lectern computer.

Share iPad to a Zoom Meeting in the Classroom

1. Login to the classroom lectern computer and login to your Zoom meeting.

2. Open the Zoom Cloud Meetings app on your iPad.

3. If you are not logged in to Zoom, login with your NetID through SSO/Okta.

4. Click Share Screen.

5. Enter the Zoom Meeting ID when prompted.

Note: If you aren’t sure where to find your Zoom Meeting ID, login to zoom.nd.edu, click Meetings on the left navigation, and copy the Meeting ID associated with the title of the Zoom Meeting.

6. After entering the Meeting ID, the iPad will join the meeting under your NetID as a Zoom Co-host. Click Start Broadcast to begin sharing content.

7. The microphone on the iPad may be on, turn it off by tapping the red microphone button. If you do not turn it off, you will hear audio feedback noise. You can confirm you are broadcasting by looking for the Screen Broadcast icon.

8. Tap the iPad Home button to see your full iPad screen.

9. Select the application to share from the iPad.

10. When you are done sharing your iPad application, return to the Zoom application on your iPad and click Stop Broadcast. This will remove the iPad from the meeting.

Note: If the iPad powers off, the screen share connection to the Zoom meeting will stop and the iPad will disconnect from the meeting. It’s recommended to change the iPad power off time (called Auto-Lock) to Never while teaching. This is done in the iPad Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock menu.
