Panopto provides you with detailed analytics at the video and folder level. For a video demonstration, click here: Panopto - Statistics and Analytics

To begin exploring the data:

  1. Go to panopto.nd.edu and log in using your NetID and password.
(If you enabled the Panopto tool in Sakai, you can access the same data by clicking the Folder Stats icon in the top right of the Panopto tool.)

  2. In the Browse section on the left, find the folder which contains the data you want to analyze and click on it to select it.
(Click the triangles to expand folders. Most courses will be found under Sakai courses.)

  3. In the top right hand of your browser, click the Folder Stats icon. (You can run reports anywhere you see this icon.)

  4. This displays a chart containing the following data:
    1. Number of minutes viewed - Represented by the orange line
    2. Number of views - Represented by the blue bars
    3. Number of unique viewers - Represented by the green bars

Note: The reporting period in this example has been changed to Custom.

  5. The table underneath the chart shows metrics for each video in the folder sorted in descending order of viewing time. Clicking any of the video titles will display the analytics for that video. This will let you drill down in more detail and also see user statistics.

  6. After clicking on a video, two charts and a table are displayed.
    1. The top chart also displays information about minutes viewed, number of views, and unique viewers.

    2. The bottom chart displays the number of views within the video timeline. Hovering your mouse over a data point displays the number of views at that point in the video. If there are points in a video with significantly more views, this might indicate content students found helpful or confusing.
