Question

How to I use Notre Dame's IT Knowledge Base to solve my technical questions?

Answer

  1. Go to servicenow.nd.edu
  2. In the search field, enter the word of phrase you want information about. For instance, perhaps you recently got a new mobile phone and you need to know how to configure it for Two Step Login?
    1. In the search field, you might enter "new phone two step"
    2. When you press Enter/Return or click the magnifying glass it will search the Knowledge Base and display a list of articles that contain any of the words you searched for
    3. In this case How do I activate a new phone for Okta? is the first choice that appears. When you click on it, you'll find it exactly what you would need to solve your problem
  3. If your search doesn't provide the answer you're looking for, try adjusting the words or phrase you are using. For instance, remove extra words or phrases such as "how do I" or "where can I find." Also, try to be as specific as possible. Instead of saying "screen problem," write "screen won't turn on."

If you are unable to find the answer to your specific question or problem, you can submit an incident for the OIT Help Desk to respond to. To do so, from the Knowledge Base:

  1. Click on the Notre Dame logo in the top left of your screen

  2. Click Get Help

  3. Click Open an incident
    1. You may be prompted to login with your NetID and password
  4. Complete the required fields on the form that appears, providing a clear description of what your question or problem is. You can also attach files, such as screenshots of error messages.
  5. When done, click Submit
