Windows 10 Self-Service Upgrade Instructions

This document explains how to update to the latest version of Windows 10 for University owned workstations. These instructions apply to Windows 10 64-bit systems.


Before you begin: 

Note: This upgrade may take up to 2 hours to complete. Please plan accordingly.


Instructions to perform the upgrade:

1. The Windows 10 upgrade is launched from the Software Center.


To access the Software Center:



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Once the Software Center opens, you will be presented with a list of available applications.



3. In the menu on the left, click on Operating Systems.



4. Click on “Upgrade Windows 10 to (current build number).


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. Then click Install.
 

6. Verify that you receive the following message. It should state that this is an upgrade and that your current programs and data will be migrated to Windows 10.


 

7. Click Install to begin the upgrade. Note: This may take a couple of hours and your computer will reboot several times throughout the process.

8. When the upgrade is complete, the computer will display a login screen.
