Issue

The Okta Verify app is installed and registered with a mobile device, but at the time of login the device is not connected to the internet and does not have cell service.

Resolution

There is a feature within the Okta Verify app on a registered mobile device that generates a temporary passcode; this passcode works even if you don't currently have cell or WiFi service on the phone.

To login with a passcode:

  1. Visit a Notre Dame login page, such as okta.nd.edu
  2. Login with your username and password
  3. Ensure Okta Verify is selected
    • If necessary, click the drop-down arrow at the top of the screen, then choose okta verify
  4. Click Or enter code

  5. Open the Okta Verify app on your smartphone or tablet
  6. On your computer, enter the code shown on your smartphone or tablet
  7. Click Verify
