Question

How do I connect to eduroam wireless network with an iOS device?

Answer

  1. On your iPad or iPhone, launch the Safari application and visit eduroam.nd.edu. (This utility will not work using Chrome)
(Note: If you are configuring wifi on an Apple Watch, it must be done through its associated iPhone)

  2. The page should identify your operating system. Enter your netid@nd.edu and tap JoinNow

  3. When prompted, tap Allow to download the eduroam configuration profile to your device

  4. An alert may appear confirming the Profile has been successfully downloaded

  5. Launch Settings app to install the profile by clicking More for Your iPhone
(Note: if you are installing on an iPhone and have an associated Apple Watch, you should follow the instructions twice: first selecting 'iPhone', then 'Apple Watch' when prompted to choose)

  6. Under Profile Downloaded, tap View Profile to continue the install

  7. Tap Install to accept the new eduroam configuration profile

  8. You may see a screen with one or both of the messages shown in the image below. If prompted, tap Install again to accept all the new certificates that support eduroam

    1. For additional information regarding a non-private MAC address see this information from Apple
    2. We have had a small number of reports of an error indicating "profile installation failed". This seems to occur for those running iOS version 13.1.3.  To resolve this, install the most recent iOS update.  Then repeat the steps above.

  9. Enter the password for your NetID if prompted

  10. At the verification screen, tap Done to finish

  11. You should now see eduroam as your current WiFi connection

Privacy Warning

While running the eduroam.nd.edu utility your iOS device may display the following warning:

This configuration is by design for those connecting to the eduroam network. If you report having wifi issues on campus, this configuration enables engineers to diagnose and resolve problems. Since the eduroam network is encrypted and you have authenticated to it, this setting does not compromise the privacy of your data.
