Precautions When Handling Ink Tanks

Important

How to replace an ink tank

If a message indicates you should replace an ink tank, check the message details and go to step 2.

Important

Selecting Ink Tank Replacement from menu

  1. Tap ink display area on Home screen.
    Touch Screen

  2. The Current estimated ink levels screen appears.
  3. Tap Replace.
  4. Instructions appear on the touch screen.

Removing ink tank (5.4 fl oz (160 ml) / 11.2 fl oz (330 ml))

  1. Open the ink tank cover of the ink tank you are replacing and check the ink lamp.
  2. The ink lamp flashes if there is no ink left.

    Important: a
    void jarring the printer a lot when replacing an ink tank. Handle the printer gently when replacing tanks.

  3. Pull forward handle part (A) of ink tank lock lever of color to replace while pressing button at B.
  4. Lift ink tank lock lever until it stops, and then push it down toward front.

    Note:
    Check that the ink tank lock lever does not return.
  5. Remove ink tank by grips (A), and then tap OK.
  6. Important: Store the removed ink tank with ink remaining with the ink holes (A) facing up. Otherwise, ink may leak and cause stains. Put the removed ink tank in a plastic bag and close the bag.

Important: Dispose of the used ink tank in accordance with local regulations.

 

 

Removing ink tank (23.7 fl oz (700 ml))

  1. Open the ink tank cover of the ink tank you are replacing and check the ink lamp. The ink lamp flashes if there is no ink left.

    Important
    :
    Avoid jarring the printer a lot when replacing an ink tank. Handle the printer gently when replacing tanks.

  2. Pull forward handle part (A) of ink tank lock lever of color to replace while pressing button at B.
  3. Lift ink tank lock lever until it stops, and then push it down toward front.

    Note:
    Check that the ink tank lock lever does not return.

  4. Remove ink tank by handle (A), and then tap OK.


  5. Important: Store the removed ink tank with ink remaining in the box with the ink holes (A) facing up. Otherwise, ink may leak and cause stains.

  6. Note Dispose of the used ink tank in accordance with local regulations.

Loading ink tank (5.4 fl oz (160 ml) / 11.2 fl oz (330 ml))

  1. Before opening the pouch, tilt the ink tank to the left and right gently seven or eight times.
  2. Important: Do not remove and agitate an ink tank that has already been installed in the printer. Ink may leak out. Failure to agitate the ink tank may cause the ink components to precipitate and may affect printing quality.
  3. Open the pouch and remove the ink tank.
  4. Important: Never touch the ink holes (A) or the metal contacts (B). This may cause stains, damage the ink tank, and affect printing quality.
  5. Important: Avoid dropping the ink tank after removing it from the pouch. Otherwise, ink may leak and cause stains.
  6. Tap OK and insert ink tank into holder with ink holes down and metal contacts at rear.
  7. Important: An ink tank cannot be loaded in the holder if the color or orientation is incorrect.
  8. Important: If the ink tank does not fit in the holder, do not force it into the holder. Reinstall while checking the label color display, ink tank color, and ink tank orientation.
  9. Lift up ink tank lock lever, and then push it down.
  10. Push handle part of ink tank lock lever firmly all the way in.
  11. Make sure ink lamp indicator is lit.
  12. Note: If the ink lamp is not lit, reload the tank.
  13. Close ink tank cover.


Loading ink tank (23.7 fl oz (700 ml))

  1. Before opening the pouch, hold the new ink tank with both hands and tilt it to the left and right as shown, shaking it gently seven or eight times.
  2. Caution: Failure to agitate the ink tank may cause the ink components to precipitate and may affect printing quality.
  3. If the ink tank is at a low temperature, allow it to warm up to room temperature before installing.
  4. Open the pouch and remove the ink tank.
  5. Important: Avoid dropping the ink tank after removing it from the pouch. Otherwise, ink may leak and cause stains.
  6. Tap OK and insert ink tank into holder with ink holes down and metal contacts at rear.
  7. An ink tank cannot be loaded in the holder if the color or orientation is incorrect.If the ink tank does not fit in the holder, do not force it into the holder. Reinstall while checking the label color display, ink tank color, and ink tank orientation.
  8. Lift up ink tank lock lever, and then push it down.
  9. Push handle part of ink tank lock lever firmly all the way in.
  10. Make sure ink lamp indicator is lit.


  11. Close ink tank cover.

  13. Note: A 23.7 fl oz (700 ml) ink tank is heavy, so use your whole arm to agitate it instead of just your wrist. If you agitate the ink tank using just your wrist, you may injure your wrist. Do not remove and agitate an ink tank that has already been installed in the printer. Ink may leak out.
