Question
What does the eduroam configuration utility do when it is run on my devices?
Answer
The configuration utility that connects your devices to eduroam when run, has two main purposes.
- The first is creating and installing a configuration file or profile (depending on the device OS) that contains all the necessary information needed to connect to eduroam. This includes authentication credentials and security certificates.
- The second purpose is the utility collects information about each device on which you run it. This allows the OIT Help Desk to provide troubleshooting if you experience any issues when running the utility which prevent you from connecting to eduroam.
- It also changes the configuration of ND-guest connection you may have previously established to not automatically join. This improves performance so that your device doesn't automatically switch between different wifi signals on the ND campus.
If you experience any issues running the utility or if you are unable to connect to eduroam after running the utility, please contact the OIT Help Desk.
