Often we find students ask their technical questions about Canvas of their instructors instead of contacting Canvas help or the OIT Help Desk. The following is text instructors can copy and paste and use as orientation to their class concerning what students should do if they have a Canvas question.
Technical support for Canvas is provided not by me, your Instructor, but by the Canvas Help team and the OIT Help Desk.
If you have a question or issue concerning your use of Canvas, please contact Canvas Help via chat or phone. This is accessible via the Help button within Canvas in the blue global navigation panel on the left side of your Canvas screen. Canvas support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
For questions regarding your laptop or other technology problems, contact the OIT Help Desk at oithelp@nd.edu or phone: 574-631-8111. You can also walk in; they’re located in 115 DeBartolo Hall. For this semester's walk-in hours, please check: oit.nd.edu/help-desk.
Support Staff will contact me if they need to discuss the way I’ve set up our class. Please tell them the web address to our Canvas site, my NetID as your instructor and your NetID, and specifically name the assignment or task you need help with.
Technical Tips Before Contacting the Canvas Help:
- Access Canvas with a newly opened fresh browser (not one that’s been opened for a month and has 47 tabs running across the top).
- Before calling the Help Desk with issues, empty your browser history, close and re-open your browser. Often that’s all it takes. (How-To Instructions Here).
- Never login to Canvas twice in two tabs in the same browser, especially when taking a test. You may lose answers.
