Issue

The Okta Verify app is installed and registered with a mobile device, but at the time of login the device is not connected to the internet and does not have cell service.

Resolution

There is a feature within the Okta Verify app on a registered mobile device that generates a temporary passcode; this passcode works even if you don't currently have cell or WiFi service on the phone.

To login with a passcode:

  1. Visit a Notre Dame login page, such as okta.nd.edu
  2. Login with your username and password
  3. When prompted for the security method, choose Enter a code by clicking Select beside it

  4. You'll be prompted to enter a code

  5. Open the Okta Verify app on your smartphone or tablet and locate the account. If the code is masked, tap the eye icon

  6. On your computer, enter the code shown on your smartphone or tablet
  7. Click Verify
