Before You Begin

Zoom frequently releases updates. Some updates are “manual” which means you will need to manually check in order to receive the update. Other updates are “prompted” which means Zoom will force the update after a meeting has ended. For security purposes, it’s best to periodically check for manual updates to ensure you’re on the latest version.

Manually Check for Zoom Updates

Manually checking updates generally will take less than 15 minutes to download and install. Be sure to give yourself enough time if you have a Zoom meeting to attend.

1. Open the Zoom application on your computer. If you aren’t sure how to find the application, search your computer for “Zoom.” Note: If you are prompted to Sign in, choose the option to Sign In with SSO. More details can be found in Sign In to Zoom with Notre Dame NetID and Password.
   
   
2. In the top-right corner click on the profile picture icon.
   
   
   
   
3. In the drop-down, click Check for Updates. 
   • If you do not see Check for Updates, follow the instructions here.
     
     
     
     
4. If there is an update available, click Update.
   
   
5. The update will install and Zoom should automatically relaunch.
