Issue: A Gmail account has been delegated to you, and you need to know how to access it

Context: Gmail, Delegated email

Resolution:

  1. Log into your Gmail account: gmail.nd.edu
  2. Click your account photo or the circle with your first initial in it that is located in the upper right-hand corner
  3. Click on the account delegated to you below your ND account.
  4. This will open a separate tab in Chrome (similar experience with other browsers)
  5. Note that no setup is required when you request a Delegated Inbox and the request has been granted. The Delegated Inbox will appear once delegated to you (you may have to refresh your browser the first time to see the Delegated Inbox).

Note: a Delegated Inbox is a separate Inbox; it is separate from your own NetID@nd.edu email account. This means that emails sent to the Delegated Inbox will not go to your NetID@nd.edu email inbox, but to a separate email inbox you access following the steps above.

The delegated account will open in a new tab in your browser. You have access to all emails and contacts of the delegated account.

Note: When you send an email from a delegated account, the email will shown as sent by that delegated account when a recipient sees it in their inbox. However, when recipients open the message, they will be able to see that you sent the message on the individual's behalf (your email address will be listed in parentheses along with "sent by" next to the delegator's name).
