Overview
Zoom passcodes are enabled by default for all new meetings.
Important:
- Every new meeting includes a passcode
- Passcodes help prevent unauthorized access
- The passcode is usually embedded in the meeting link
The two most common ways to schedule meetings are:
- Google Calendar (with Zoom Scheduler)
- Zoom web portal (zoom.nd.edu)
Scheduling a Zoom Meeting through Google Calendar
If you have the Zoom Scheduler installed, new meetings will automatically include a passcode.
- Go to calendar.google.com
- Click Create.
- Enter your meeting details
- Click Make it a Zoom Meeting.
Result
- A Zoom meeting is created
- The meeting link includes the passcode
- Participants do not need to enter a passcode if they use the link
- For phone participants, the invitation includes the meeting ID and passcode
Note: If your passcode includes letters (A, B, C, etc.), Zoom will generate a numeric passcode for phone access.
Scheduling a Zoom Meeting through zoom.nd.edu
- Log in to zoom.nd.edu.
- Click Schedule a New Meeting.
- Review meeting settings:
- A passcode is enabled by default
- A random six-digit passcode is generated
- You can change the passcode if needed
- Click Save.
- Click Copy Invitation.
Result
- The meeting link includes the passcode
- Participants who use the link do not need to enter the passcode manually
- The invitation also includes:
- Meeting ID
- Passcode for phone participants
