Issue

Unable to open Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive or other Google App on iOS or Android

Error displays Device Policy Alert as seen below

Resolution

Accessing your Notre Dame Google account information through Google apps now requires that you have a passcode on your iOS or Android device.  Directions to set up a passcode on iOS are below:

 On iOS
  1. Go to the Settings app
  2. Tap Touch ID & Passcode in the left navigation menu
  3. Tap Turn Passcode On on the right
  4. Enter a passcode
  5. Verify your new passcode
  6. Return to your Google app (e.g. Gmail, Calendar, Drive etc)
  7. Tap SIGN IN at the bottom
  8. Tap the slider next to your Notre Dame Google account, creating a green area next to the circle
  9. Tap Done in the upper left hand corner

 

On Android
  1. Go to the Settings app
  2. In the search bar, type Screen lock
  3. Tap the Screen lock option
  4. Tap Screen Lock
  5. Choose a screen lock type
  6. Enter a code
  7. Confirm your code
  8. Return to your Google app
