Overview

By default, Zoom cloud recordings imported into Panopto are private. You can share these recordings with students in two ways:

Automatically Share Zoom Course Recordings with Students

After completing these steps, all future recordings from a specific Zoom Meeting ID will automatically appear in your course’s Panopto folder in Canvas.

Important:
    •    This only applies to future recordings
    •    Existing recordings must be moved manually
    •    Students will access recordings through the Panopto Video tool in Canvas

Steps

  1. Log into Canvas and open your course.

  2. Click the Panopto Video tool.This gives you access to the course folder.

    • This ensures your course folder is created and grants you rights to create content.
    • You only need to do this once per course.

  3. Click the arrow in the top right corner of the window to open Panopto in a new window.

  4. Click your name in the top-right corner, then select User Settings.

  5. Scroll to Zoom Recording Import Settings and click Add New.

  6. Enter your Zoom Meeting ID. Make sure to remove any spaces from the beginning, middle, and end.

    To find your Meeting ID go to zoom.nd.edu.
    • Clicking Meetings.
    • Locate the meeting in the Topic column.
    • Locating the corresponding Meeting ID.


  7. Select a destination folder:
    • Type the course number (e.g., FA25-XXX-YYYYY), or
    • Browse under Canvas Courses. (Click the triangle to the left of Canvas Courses to view its sub-folders.)


      Note: Panopto only shows folders where you have permission to create content.


  8. Click Save.



    Results
    • A folder mapping is created
    • Future recordings for this Meeting ID will automatically move to the selected folder
    • Recordings appear after Zoom finishes processing
    • Other Zoom cloud recordings remain in your private Meeting Recordings folder

Manually Share Zoom Course Recordings with Students

Use this method to move individual recordings from your private folder to your course folder.

Important:

 

Steps

  1. Log into Canvas and open your course.

  2. Click the Panopto Video tool.

    • This ensures your course folder is created and grants you rights to create content.
    • You only need to do this once per course.

      Note: To move future videos in this course, you can go directly to panopto.nd.edu and start at step 4.


  3. Click the arrow in the top-right corner to open Panopto in a new window.


  4. Click My Folder.

  5. Open the Meeting Recordings folder. (This folder will not appear until Panopto has imported a Zoom cloud recording.)


  6. Click the Detailed List View icon.


  7. Select recordings:
        •    Check the box next to each recording
        •    You can select multiple recordings
        •    If no checkbox appears, hover over the thumbnail

  8. Click Move.


  9. Choose the destination folder:
    • Enter the course number (e.g., FA25-XXX-YYYYY), or
    • Browse under Canvas Courses. (Click the triangle to the left of Canvas Courses to view its sub-folders.)


      Note: Panopto only shows folders where you have permission to create content.

  10. Confirm the move:
    • Review folder details and permissions
    • Click Move.


  11. Return to Canvas and refresh the page by clicking on the Panopto Video tool again. You should now see the recording(s) you just moved.

    Result

    The moved recordings are now available to students in your course.
